Standards, protocols, codes of conduct, and social and environmental audit
Most Public bodies are committed to the principles of sustainable development, and have a duty to conserve biodiversity, and have regard to the the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity and national/local Biodiversity Strategies and plans. To demonstrate both commitment and performance such bodies will need to audit their activities and report on their environmental performance. Businesses are also increasingly aware of the need to demonstrate social and environmental performance - in part to satisfy consumer demand, and in part to pre-empt bureaucratic regulation. Corporate Social Responsibility is steadily gaining ground.
Initiatives range from simple and unstructured audit and reporting, to full blown environmental policy, management and reporting systems, with associated sourcing protocols, codes of conduct, and indicators of performance.
We offer a comprehensive service, ranging from scoping exercises to identify the need for and potential benefits arising from different kinds and levels of initiative, through to a thorough analysis of organisational operations, and development of a comprehensive environmental policy and associated management and reporting systems. We field a mix of economic/management expertise along with environmental/biodiversity expertise to ensure that the advice we give is practical and realistic, and the systems developed are cost effective in the short term, and where possible profitable in the longer term.
We also deliver more formal standards. Our consultants are experienced assessors under the Marine Stewardship Council fisheries certification scheme.
